Savinelli's "628" bent Brandy displays a tall, conservatively tapered bowl at the end of a smooth, slightly elongated and curling transition. The shape features an excellent balance of supple curves and elegant line work throughout, with the bowl tapering more subtly toward the rim and posing a leaner profile than the Italian marque's other bent Brandy designs, namely the "644 KS" and "645 KS." Comparatively, the "628" prioritizes height over plumpness, catering more toward traditional English renditions, and houses a deeper chamber inside the more slender, poised bowl.
The Oscar lineup has long been one of Savinelli's most popular offerings, with its use of vibrant acrylic stems across the Lucite and Tiger versions presenting a striking, eye-catching aesthetic. Debuted in 2023, the Oscar Smooth iteration adds yet another option for Oscar pipes and sees the Italian marque present a more reserved, staid palette for those drawn to less extroverted motifs. Here in the Oscar Smooth, this piece's dark, smoky stain highlights the briar's grain while being tastefully accented by contrasting metal rings separated by a classy beige accent. It's a luxurious addition with classic appeal and undeniable style.
