With roots dating to 1848, Vauen is Germany's largest and oldest pipe making marque, boasting decades of innovations such as the 9mm pipe filter — a feature the majority of their pipes still utilize today. The Topas series leverages the talent of the brand's carvers to create a line of pipes based around finely detailed facets that elevate each piece's presentation. Around the bowl of each shape, twelve panels and ridges are carved, each done by hand in a freehand process that includes multiple repetitions of manual sanding to ensure each one is as crisp as it can be. The shank end and stem base are both marked by matching silver fitments to create a unified aesthetic between the two separate elements. This labor-intensive line comes in three finishes: a dark brown sandblast, an inky black stain, and a light brown stain, with this "151" bent Apple receiving the light stain.
